With the
objective of building capacity on Emergency Preparedness at
the Institutional level, this training program was held on
January 22, 2010 at TCH Tower II – Hall by Mr. Mahesh
Nakarmi.
Mr. Mahesh
Nakarmi – ‘Earthquake Emergency Management Specialist’
conducted this Orientation Program using interactive
multimedia presentation and scenario based practical
exercises. This highly useful program consisted knowledge
about Earthquake hazard, its risk in Kathmandu Valley and
what individual and families should do and don’t before,
during and after an earthquake. The overall training Program
was indeed very lively and informative with active
participation from all the TCH staffs. |

There were two paper presentations ; first paper titled “
Introduction of National Urban Policy “was presented by Mr.
Surya Bhakta Sangachhen , Planning Advisor, Bhaktapur
Municipality and the second paper, titled “Past, present &
future scenario of Urban Nepal” was presented by Mr. Om
Rajbhandary, CEO of The Comfort Housing Pvt. Ltd.
Interesting part of the program was Japanese translation of
the presentation which was in English done by Ms. Lata
Shakya and Mr. Maeda Masahiru Ph.D Students from Kyoto
University Japan . The program was then followed by Lunch
and TCH site visits.

Mr. Devendra Nath Gongal, Ex- president South Asian
Architects SA Arch, Society of Nepalese Architects,
Architect Planner and Dr. Bijaya Krishna Shrestha,
President, S3 – Alliance : Development Forum For Habitat
were invited guests for the program.
18 Visitors from Association of Urban Housing Science Japan,
appreciated the community living concept in Nepal.
